A 'Sort Of, Not Really' Cravath Match For The Holiday

At least it is good news for first-year associates.

Hundreds Falling onto Money StackAfter close of business on July 1, when literally everyone had abandoned the firm to celebrate America’s long history of blowing things up, Jackson Walker announced its raises, which left a lot to be desired according to associates.

On the plus side, the Texas-based firm of over 350+ attorneys will adopt $180K salaries for first-year associates. This keeps the firm in the hunt for the top talent now that everyone and their mother in Texas raised salaries.

But the rest of the firm opened the email to find continued silence…

The Compensation Committee continues to study how to update our compensation approach with respect to our other associates; again with focus on the need to attract and retain talent.

This isn’t necessarily bad news. The firm might announce more than generous raises throughout the firm in the coming weeks. But the only thing more frustrating than waiting until the holiday weekend to acknowledge associate compensation is teasing your associates with salary news and then saying, “um, we’ll get back to you.”

Until then, welcome to the 180K club, Jackson Walker first-years.

Remember, when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches Cravath”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
