Jay-Z's Got 99 Problems And This SEC Subpoena Might Be One

We are aware that the SEC is seeking information on Iconix’s financial reporting. Mr. Carter had no role in that reporting or Iconix’s other actions as a public company. Mr. Carter is a private citizen who should not be involved in this matter.
— Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel, commenting on the subpoena the rapper received concerning a probe related to Iconix Brand Group, a clothing company that paid Jay-Z $200 million for assets associated with the Rocawear apparel brand. Jay-Z has also been ordered to appear in federal court next week to explain why he shouldn’t be ordered to testify in the SEC investigation.
